Insulin resistance is when the body’s sensitivity to insulin is reduced. This means that it does not read its actual level – it can be normal or elevated, but the body still thinks that insulin is not enough. Alarmed by the apparent lack of insulin, the body produces more and more insulin (overproduction of insulin is called hyperinsulinemia).
After all, insulin resistance is not a disease, but a disorder. . . this is how Gazeta.pl describes the problem.
Meanwhile, a conference on this subject is taking place in Warsaw, organized by the Insulin Resistance Foundation – healthy diet and healthy life.
